GRID / a network of horizontal and vertical lines superimposed over a map, building plan, etc., for locating point. a grating consisting of parallel bars


WHY USE A GRID / BENEFITS & FUNCTIONS / / organization. hierarchy, placement.
Leads to a more effective design. Adds user friendliness, alignment, balance. Quickens the design process. 


MODULAR GRID / 4 columns, 4 rows


MARGINS / the blank space bordering the written or printed area on a page. a limit in a condition or process, beyond or below which something is no longer possible or acceptable


COLUMNS /  one of two or more vertical sections of typed lines lying side by side on a page and separated by a rule or a blank space.


GRID MODULES / is the open square space in between the flow lines.


FLOWLINES / the connecting line or arrow between symbols on a flow chart or block diagram.


GUTTER / the white space formed by the inner margins of two facing pages, as of a book.


HIERARCHY / rank- order of importance


TYPOGRAPHIC COLOR /  is the overall density of the ink on the page, determined mainly by the typeface, but also by the word spacing, leading, etc.


WHAT ARE WAYS TO ACHIEVE A CLEAR HIERARCHY / size eight color style and placement. get them to look where you want them to look.


WHITE SPACE / white space is the empty spaces in a design. it's is used to separate disparate design elements and group similar ones. -the lack of graphics or text in the layout. It’s not always “white” — it is the empty parts of the page, but if the page has a different background color that will be the color of the white space.
